After a mutual split in college, Kurt and Blaine have settled into a comfortable friendship, but things become complicated when an untimely tragedy forces an overwhelmed Kurt to return to Ohio. In theory, one person’s loss may be another person’s gain, but Blaine discovers that it’s rarely so simple in practice.

Kurt and Blaine are both part of the same werewolf pack.
Blaine is a dominant werewolf and also the son of the alpha of the pack. As the alpha’s son he has first pick of the submissive werewolves when he becomes of age to mate.
Kurt is a submissive werewolf and like all submissives is kept isolated. They are educated but kept in the dark about sex because they need to be pure when a dominant chooses them otherwise the mating will not take. So they literally know nothing about sex and are under constant supervision. All they know is that when one of their fellow submissive werewolves leave them it’s because a dominant chose them to mate but they don’t actually know the full context of the word “mate”.

Finn was a senior during s1. Burt & Carole still got married, but Finn went off to OSU, where he met Blaine.
Blaine’s family aren’t around for Thanksgiving, so Finn brings him along to the Hummel-Hudson house, where he meets Kurt & is enarmoured with him, and vice versa.
